Gisèle McDiarmid is a seasoned health professional who has dedicated her life to the service of others. With more than 30 years of combined professional education, career and personal experience, she brings tremendous value to every coaching session. Working with Gisèle, her clients feel well-supported, compassionately and expertly guided, as well as hopeful again for a better future.
Her career began as a Registered Nurse specializing in Neurology in Canada and USA. She worked in Neurosurgery at the Montréal General Hospital in Québec and in Neurorehabilitation at the Shepherd Center for Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries in Atlanta, Georgia. Later, she took on nursing management roles in Medicine and Cardiovascular units.
From the outset, Gisèle viewed each patient as an individual on this/her own unique health journey. She honored them as the experts of their lives and fostered a trusting Nurse-patient relationship, providing compassionate support and essential education throughout their hospital stays. At that time, this was a groundbreaking approach to bedside Nursing and Nursing Management in North America. To Gisèle, empowering her patients was both natural and logical. Her progressive methods led to patients actively participating in their care, appearing more at ease during their hospital stays, and often recovering much faster.
After a 12-year nursing career, she shifted her focus to raising her busy family of four children with her husband, and caring for their aging mothers. During this period, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology (Cum Laude). However, her health challenges significantly increased. While making the rounds of doctors, specialists, and tests, she also sought solutions through an ICF*-recognized dual professional coaching certification in health and life coaching from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC).
Ultimately, Gisèle was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), Multiple Chemical and Environmental Sensitivities (MCS) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS)—this was a major turning point for her. She found the professionals who could effectively treat these invisible chronic illnesses. Committed to rebuilding her health with their expert guidance, she gained invaluable knowledge that she would not have acquired otherwise.
Three years later, Gisèle emerged with a refreshed outlook on the treatment and management of chronic health conditions. She became an IFCI** Certified Fibromyalgia Advisor®, mastering the tools that further improved her well-being. This ignited her passion for helping others reclaim their health and lives. Consequently, she became a Certified Fibromyalgia Coach®, mentored by Tami Stackelhouse, the CEO and Master Educator at the International Fibromyalgia Coaching Institute (IFCI), a three-time best-selling author, podcaster and Executive Producer of the groundbreaking 2023 fibromyalgia documentary film, Invisible.
Gisèle is a Registered Health Coach accredited by the Health Coach Alliance. She engages in ongoing education to remain informed about the latest research studies and wellness literature. This commitment enables her to continually broaden her expertise, including areas such as Holistic Nutrition, MCS and ME/CFS coaching, gut microbiome optimization, and so much more.
